Dan Jackson obviously loves to write and create books for children. He has a very large collection of published works and he never seems to repeat himself with ideas. Mixing photography with drawings and little notes, Jackson aims for the middle of the target of a child's imagination and always hits his mark!
In a wonderful combination of images of horses and children Dan offers series of responses between children and horses. Some of the things his children would do if they met a horse would be to say hello, what a nice tail (that scares away flies) and big eyes you have, I would feed it an apple and look at its teeth, pet his nose, watch it run, brush its mane, ride it, and love it very much.
If all children could be introduced to the entire animal kingdom in the manner in which Dan Jackson presents we would have a kinder world. Grady Harp, January 15
